Multi-layer and booklet labels

More room for information without larger packaging

Need to include more information than a standard label can hold? Multi-layer, two-layer, foldout and booklet labels give you considerably more space for information on the same product packaging, without increasing its size.

Multi-layer labels can accommodate instructions, promotions, ingredient lists, warnings, mandatory information and multiple languages. The label opens to reveal additional pages and can then be resealed. Nordvalls helps you choose the right construction for your product, packaging, the amount of information you need to include and how the label will be used.

What is a multi-layer label?

A multi-layer label is a self-adhesive label with more than one surface for information. Additional sheets or layers provide more space for print without increasing the label’s size. A typical multi-layer label opens using a tab to reveal further information and can then be resealed. This makes it particularly useful when detailed information needs to appear directly on the packaging.

Multi-layer labels are used for pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, chemical products and other applications where there is a lot of information to include. Across the international label industry, these solutions are often referred to as multi-layer labels, extended content labels (ECLs), multi-page labels, foldout labels and peel and reveal labels.

Different types of multi-layer labels

Multi-layer labels are available in a range of constructions, depending on how much information you need to include and how the label should open and close.

Two-layer labels

A two-layer label provides additional space for information while retaining approximately the same size and shape as a standard label. It can be useful when you need room for multiple languages, ingredient details, instructions or other product information.

Two-, three- and four-layer labels

Multi-layer labels can incorporate two, three or four layers, creating several printable surfaces through different layering and folding constructions. The right solution depends on the amount of information, label size, material, packaging and how often the label needs to be opened.

Foldout labels

A foldout label combines a standard base label with an integrated leaflet or booklet. This unfolds to reveal the information and can then be resealed, allowing you to include extensive information on a small product.
