Labels for e-commerce & logistics
Labels for efficient logistics
E-commerce and logistics demand labels that perform reliably in fast-moving, automated processes. From warehousing and order picking to transport and delivery, labels are an essential part of an efficient supply chain. They support accurate identification, traceability and scanning, helping goods move smoothly through your operations.
We produce printed and unprinted labels, shipping labels, transport labels and barcode labels for e-commerce, warehousing and logistics. Our materials and formats are tailored to high production speeds, different application surfaces and a range of labelling methods.
Available for direct thermal and thermal transfer printing, our labels are designed for both manual and automated application. They work with leading Print & Apply systems from manufacturers such as Logopak, Novexx Solutions, Evolabel, Domino, Videojet and CAB, as well as label printers from Zebra, Honeywell, Toshiba TEC, TSC and SATO.
With the right combination of material, adhesive and printing technology, we help you create a label solution that performs from initial application to final delivery.
Common labels for e-commerce and logistics
Shipping and transport labels
Labels for parcels, pallets and shipments. Available blank or pre-printed on rolls, with options for carriers including PostNord, DHL, UPS, Bring and DB Schenker.
Thermal labels
Labels for thermal printers, commonly used for shipping and transport. Available for direct thermal or thermal transfer printing to suit different durability and print requirements.
Barcode labels
Labels carrying 1D and 2D codes, including EAN and GS1-128 barcodes, SSCC identifiers, QR codes and DataMatrix codes. Used for identification, traceability and efficient data handling in warehousing, logistics and retail.
Picking and warehouse labels
Labels for storage, order picking and internal logistics. Clear identification improves warehouse efficiency and reduces the risk of errors.
Returns and delivery note labels
Labels for returns, deliveries and documentation, helping simplify order processing and returns management.
RFID labels
RFID labels enable wireless identification and tracking of products, packages and goods. Applications include stock control, stocktaking, traceability and automated logistics.
Pallet labels and SSCC
Pallet labels identify and track pallets throughout the supply chain. Clear pallet labelling supports efficient storage, transport and goods receipt, while reducing errors and maintaining traceability.
A widely used standard is the SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code), part of the GS1 system. Each pallet receives a unique identification number, represented in a GS1-128 barcode. The label can also carry details such as GTIN, batch number, product information, sender, recipient and delivery information.
We produce pallet labels for both direct thermal and thermal transfer printing, tailored to label printers and Print & Apply systems. The right material and adhesive provide reliable scanning and secure adhesion throughout the logistics process.

Frequently asked questions about shipping labels
How do I choose the right shipping label?
The right shipping label depends on how your product is transported, the surface the label will be applied to and the application method. It needs to adhere securely to surfaces such as corrugated board, plastic or other packaging, while keeping barcodes, QR codes and other information scannable throughout transport.
The label also needs to suit your printer or Print & Apply system, meet your carrier’s requirements and support your sustainability goals through suitable materials and efficient material use.
We help you choose the right combination of material, adhesive, size and printing technology for your logistics processes, so your label performs in production, during transport and all the way to the recipient.
Which label should I choose for my printer?
Nordvalls offers label materials and core sizes to suit a wide range of printers, including:
Label printers: Zebra, Honeywell, Toshiba TEC, TSC and SATO.
Industrial Print & Apply systems for automated operations: Logopak, Novexx Solutions, Evolabel, Domino, Videojet and CAB.
What is an STE label?
STE stands for Standardiserad Transportetikett, Swedish for “standardised transport label”. These labels are used to identify and handle goods in transport and logistics. They can be used for parcels, packages and pallets and are available in various sizes and formats.
Which label material is suitable for our cartons?
The best material depends on the carton’s surface, how the product is handled and the conditions it encounters. Paper labels are suitable for most corrugated and cardboard packaging, while PP materials can be a good option where greater resistance to moisture, abrasion or temperature changes is needed.
The adhesive is just as important as the label material in maintaining secure adhesion throughout the supply chain. Materials and label construction can also be selected with recycling and reduced material use in mind.
We help you choose the right combination of material, adhesive and label construction for your packaging, production environment and logistics processes.
What is GS1?
GS1 is an international organisation that develops standards for identifying products, packaging and shipments. Standardised barcodes and identification numbers allow products to be identified and tracked throughout the supply chain, from warehousing and transport to the shop or end customer. The GS1 system includes EAN barcodes, SSCC identifiers, GS1-128 barcodes and other tools used for traceability in retail and logistics.
For e-commerce and logistics labels, GS1 standards allow barcodes and other data to be read consistently by different businesses and carriers. This supports more efficient stock handling, reliable traceability and fewer supply chain errors.
We produce labels suited to GS1 standards, with high print quality and scannability for reliable reading, even in fast-moving, automated logistics processes.
How does Print & Apply work?
Print & Apply is an automated labelling solution that prints a label and applies it directly to a product or pack in one continuous process. It is commonly used on automated packing lines to label cartons and pallets without manual handling.
In e-commerce, warehousing and logistics, the technology is used to label cartons, pallets and shipments with shipping information, barcodes and traceability data.
Reliable operation requires labels designed for high production speeds and automatic application. The right material, adhesive and construction help ensure that each label is applied correctly, stays securely attached and remains easy to scan throughout the supply chain.
How can we reduce label costs?
There are several ways to reduce label costs while maintaining quality and performance. Choosing the right material, adhesive, label size and roll size for your application equipment can reduce material use and production downtime.
For high-volume operations, options such as linerless labels or optimised roll sizes can reduce roll changes, material consumption and overall costs over time. We help you assess your logistics processes and develop a label solution that balances performance, sustainability and cost.
What is the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer printing?
The difference lies in how the information is printed onto the label.
Direct thermal labels use a heat-sensitive material that reacts to the printer’s heating elements, so no ribbon is needed. They are well suited to shipping, transport and other applications where the label is needed for a shorter period.
Thermal transfer labels use a ribbon to transfer print onto the label through heat. With the right combination of ribbon and label material, this produces longer-lasting print with resistance to moisture, sunlight, abrasion and more demanding conditions.
The right choice depends on the application, durability requirements and how long the information needs to remain readable. We help you select the right label material, ribbon and construction for your logistics processes and application.
