Labels for beauty and health products

Labels for every range – from everyday essentials to premium products

Whether you produce everyday essentials for supermarkets or exclusive skincare and beauty products, your label needs to perform. It must communicate the right information, work smoothly in production and withstand the conditions and handling it encounters throughout the product’s life. The right materials, design and finishing can also strengthen your brand and enhance the product experience.

We produce labels for skincare, haircare, make-up, fragrances, food supplements and personal hygiene products – from simple, cost-effective solutions for high volumes to premium labels featuring soft-touch finishes, embossing, foiling and speciality varnishes.

Create a premium label that feels as good as it looks

For premium products, the label is an essential part of the overall experience. Materials, design and surface finish work together to attract attention, reinforce your brand identity and create a sense of quality from the first encounter.

We combine carefully selected materials and printing techniques with advanced finishing to create visual depth and tactile interest. Soft-touch finishes, embossing, metallic foiling and speciality varnishes can highlight details and give your label a look and feel as considered as the product itself, while meeting high standards of quality, durability and performance.

Soft touch
Gives your label a soft, luxurious surface that enhances its premium feel.

Embossing
Creates a tactile effect that makes your logo or other details more prominent.

Metallic foiling
Gives selected details a distinctive, eye-catching finish.

Transparent labels
Create a subtle “no-label look” that lets the packaging take centre stage.

Varnish and spot varnish
Add striking effects across the whole label or selected areas, highlighting logos, patterns and other design elements.

To give your brand the best opportunity to communicate its message, your label needs to deliver the right quality.

Frequently asked questions about labels for beauty and health products

What should our label look like?

Your label should reflect your brand identity while remaining clear, functional and easy to recognise. Clean design, distinctive materials and premium effects such as embossing, metallic foil, soft-touch finishes and spot varnish are popular choices in beauty and health, helping create a strong first impression.

Your visual identity should guide the label design, communicating your product’s quality and values while building recognition. Essential product information must also be easy to read and meet applicable labelling requirements.

Nordvalls’ in-house designers can develop a design from scratch or work with your marketing team or design agency to create a label that combines visual impact with the right materials, functionality and suitability for production.

Which material should we choose?

The right label material depends on your packaging, the application and the conditions in which the product will be used. Paper labels suit many dry applications, while PP and PE materials are often better suited to products exposed to moisture, oils, chemicals or frequent handling. Adhesives, surface treatments and finishing also affect durability, performance and appearance.

Material selection also influences packaging recyclability and preparation for requirements under the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Our experts help you choose the right combination of material, adhesive and printing technique so your label performs throughout the product lifecycle and supports your goals for functionality, branding and sustainability.

How will the label withstand bathroom conditions?

Shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, soaps, moisturisers and facial cleansers are used daily in environments where they encounter water, high humidity, condensation, oils and repeated temperature changes. Their labels need to maintain adhesion, shape and print quality despite frequent use and handling.

The right combination of material, adhesive and surface treatment helps keep the label securely attached and preserves the appearance of colours, text and premium finishes throughout the product’s life. We help you develop a label solution suited to both the conditions of use and the packaging material.

How can we give our label a premium feel?

A premium feel comes from a carefully considered combination of design, materials and finishing. For skincare, haircare, fragrances, make-up, serums and food supplements, the label is an important part of the brand experience and can shape the customer’s first impression.

Textured papers, transparent labels, metallic foil, embossing, spot varnish, matt or gloss surfaces and soft-touch finishes are just some of the options that can create a premium look and feel. Combining materials and effects can highlight logos, product names and other graphic details, conveying quality and craftsmanship.

We help you choose materials and finishes that suit your product, audience and brand, creating a label that stands out on the shelf and reinforces your product’s premium appeal.

How can we fit all the information on the label?

Many beauty and health products need to carry extensive information within a limited label area. Ingredient lists (INCI), instructions, warnings, batch numbers, shelf-life information, barcodes, QR codes and multiple languages all need to fit without making the label feel cluttered.

A common approach is to use a design-led front label to strengthen the brand, paired with an information-rich back label carrying the required product details.

When space is still limited, multi-layer peel and reveal labels, booklet labels and foldout labels provide considerably more room for information while preserving the packaging’s appearance. These solutions are particularly useful for cosmetics, skincare, haircare, food supplements and other products sold across multiple markets or subject to extensive labelling requirements.

We help you choose the right solution for your product’s size, information requirements and design, supporting regulatory compliance while strengthening your brand and creating a professional overall impression.

Which regulations apply?

Cosmetic products sold in the EU must be labelled in accordance with the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Required information includes the product’s function, ingredient list (INCI), nominal contents, batch number, shelf-life information, details of the responsible person and any necessary warnings. For products sold in Sweden, information subject to Swedish-language requirements must be provided in Swedish.

Alongside labelling requirements, material selection and packaging design are becoming increasingly important as the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) is introduced. Materials, adhesives and label construction can affect packaging recyclability and the ability to meet future sustainability requirements.

We help you develop label solutions that combine accurate labelling, suitable materials and reliable performance with design that strengthens your brand – today and with future packaging requirements in mind.
