Leksands Knäckebröd – A long-term partnership

Leksands Knäckebröd is a family business in Dalarna with a history dating back to the late 1800s. It began with homemade crispbread, baked by a skilled baker in the village and sold to local hotels. Today the business is bigger, but the foundation is the same: locally grown rye, their own spring water, yeast, and a pinch of salt. Watch the film below about the story behind Leksands Knäckebröd and the collaboration with Nordvalls.

A long-term partnership

Nordvalls and Leksands Knäckebröd have collaborated for nearly 20 years, developing together along the way. The partnership has followed Leksands Knäckebröd’s sustainability work, where the labels play a clear role. The labels show climate impact in carbon dioxide equivalents, giving consumers the opportunity to see the product’s full carbon footprint.

Recycling residual material

As part of the partnership, work is also underway to take care of residual material from the label rolls—the backing paper. The material is collected and recycled into insulation used in construction projects. This means that even what previously went to incineration is now recovered and given new life.
